Being cared for by Andrew was terrific at all stages of diagnosis, advice, surgery and follow up. He gave me great confidence all the way through and was a pleasure to wrk with him.

Mr Carrothers first started caring for my knees 6 years ago, and 5 years ago I had a total right knee replacement. He ensured that I knew what I was letting myself in for, and that the recovery period could be very long. Indeed, it was the best part of 18 months before I felt that I was over the after effects. Since then I have been able to walk as much as I want (we love hill walking) and I also fairly regularly run short runs - up to 4 or 5 K. The knee is not without pain, but compared to the wreck it was before the replacement it is wonderful. As I knew I would have to at some stage I am now embarking on an exploration with Mr C to decide what to do about the left knee, as it has deteriorated pretty much as he predicted, but I have every confidence, based on my consultation this morning, that only absolutely necessary surgery will be the outcome.

It is nearly eight weeks since I had my left hip replaced. Before it I could barely walk 50 yards with two sticks. Now I can walk for 20-30 minutes unaided and see a steady improvement week by week. I am a walker and look forward shortly to a trip to Snowdonia. My thanks to Mr Carrothers and all his team for their great care at the Nuffield Hospital, for their follow up attention and the sense of safety that I felt throughout.

October 8th 2021 I had my first hip replacement with Mr Carrothers in 2018 and my other hip replacement last week. Mr Carrothers inspires complete trust as a surgeon. In addition to his skills he is also kind, caring and listens to concerns and answers any questions. It is a huge relief to be free of the pain in my hips and I am very grateful to Mr Carrothers for his amazing work.

I cannot speak highly enough of Andrew Carrothers. He is a very caring professional, who listened very attentively to my circumstances and inspired total confidence with his diagnosis and recommendations. When I visited him on 2nd July 2021 for the initial consultation, I was anxious to get on with the surgery without delay and on 18th August 2021 my new right hip was inserted with the benefit of Mako robotic assistance. Everything went exactly according to the plan outlined by Mr. Carrothers and 6 weeks post surgery I am now undertaking 5 mile walks pain free. Mr. Carrothers has literally given me my life back and I am looking forward to restarting the activities, which osteoarthritis has made me unable to do for past year - running, playing bulldog with my grandchildren, yoga and zumba dancing. I would also like to commend Mr. Carrothers's secretary, Carol Morse, for her attentive service.
